Vasudeva

Vasudeva (Devanagari वसुदेव, IAST Vasudeva), also called Ānakadundubhi ("Drum", after the sound of drums heard at the time of his birth), was the father of Krishna, his eighth son who was an Avatar of Vishnu, and his siblings Balarama and Subhadra. He was king of the Vrishnis and a Yadava prince.  He was the son of the Yadava king Shurasena. He was the brother of Nanda, who took care of Krishna during his early years as a child. His other brother Devashrava was the father of Ekalavya who played a significant role in Mahabharata. His sister Kunti was married to Pandu, and had the three sons - Yudhishthira, Bhimasena and Arjuna as children.

The patronymic Vāsudeva (with long ā) is a popular name of Krishna, the son of Vasudeva with Devaki
